BioThis backstory up to Cally's service on Galactica in the Battlestar Galactica miniseries is purely the imagination of the story-teller. If canon information becomes available which contradicts anything the story-teller has imagined up, obviously canon will rule all.
Cally Tyrol (nee Cally Henderson) was born and grew up in the Twelve Colonies of Kobol. The youngest of four (ten years separated her youngest brother and herself), and her parents being decent, extremely hard-working laborers, they were simply too tired to rein her in all that much. Some people might be ruined by that freedom, but from her parents she inherited a generally agreeable disposition and from her brothers and sister she picked up a wicked sense of humor.
The time came for Cally to decide what she wanted to do with her life and Cally decided to become a dentist. Unfortunately, there wasn't nearly enough money for dental school and thus Cally decided to compromise her ideals and do something she'd sworn at the naive and tender age of ten never to do, use something as a means to end.
Much to Cally's surprise, she found that she had a natural aptitude and easiness going into the repair of Vipers, Raptors, and ship's maintenance. The Battlestar Galactica was not her first assignment, but it was her longest one, even before the Cylon genocide of the Twelve Colonies.
Cally's personality is an extremely strong one, which has gotten herself into some messy situations.
Less than a year after the Cylon Holocaust, Cally married her longtime friend, Chief Petty Officer Galen Tyrol, also stationed on the Galactica. Since their marriage, they have lived through a brutal Cylon occupation during which they welcomed their first son, Nicholas, into their family, and fought in the resistance forces commanded by Colonel Saul Tigh and former President Laura Roslin.
